A newly constructed multi utility youth centre at Hidakshungba village under Konthoujam Assembly Constituency in Imphal West District was inaugurated by Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh, MLA and Advisor (Health) to Chief Minister of Manipur and M. Asnikumar Singh, Chairman of Manipur Development Society (MDS) as Chief Guest and President respectively in a public function today. The youth centre under the banner of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Multi Utility Youth Centre has provisions of Multi Gym, Smart TV, computer set with internet connection, furnitures etc.
During the inauguration ceremony, Dr. S. Ranjan Singh, local MLA has conveyed gratitude to the Chief Minister of Manipur and Chairman, MDS for taking initiative to install a youth centre on priority within his constituency. He highlighted many pro people welfare oriented projects undertaken by the Central and State governments during the last four years. He also recalled the condition of his constituency before five years and the perceptible changes being brought in the past few years.
M. Asnikumar Singh, Chairman of MDS in his presidential address recalled the life and paramount contributions of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya in laying the foundations of a Modern India. He highlighted the inspirational life of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya and sacrifices made for the cause of nationalism. He added that as a mark of honour and befitting tribute to his life, Manipur Development Society under the guidance of Chief Minister of Manipur has named such centres in the State as Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Multi Utility Youth Centre. He also appreciated the co-operation extended by the local people of Hidakshungba village. The local youths also presented cultural programmes during the inauguration of the youth centre.
