One-Day Workshop on Yumsharol held

In a bid to foster a deeper understanding of the cultural and scientific aspects of Yumsharol, the Institution of Engineers (India), Manipur State Centre, in conjunction with the Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board, hosted a one-day workshop. The event, titled “Scientific and Social Outlook on Yumsharol,” took place on Saturday, May 25th, 2024, commencing at 08:00 am.
The venue for the workshop was the esteemed Lainingthou Sanamahi Shanglen, located at Haying Khongbal, Uphong Yumpham, Sanamahi Road.
Distinguished personalities from various fields graced the occasion. Dr. Paonam Gunindro, Vice Chancellor of Manipur University of Culture, honored the event as the Chief Guest. Joining him was Aribam Joychandra Sharma, President of the Manipur Architects’ Forum, as the Guest of Honour. Vidyapati Senjam, Vice President of Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board, served as the Chief Host, while Er. Loktongbam Swamikanta Singh, FIE, Chairman of the Institution of Engineers (India), Manipur State Centre, presided over the function.
In the program, Dr. Paonam Gunindro said that “we have to preserve our culture, but at the same time, we have to adjust to the progress that has been made over time. This is the task of the seminar. Now, there are controversies over the Sanamahi room, given that families are living on different floors, and siblings are sometimes fighting over it. These are the issues facing our society now.”
Maisnam Shivdutta Luwang, Member Secretary of Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board, delivered the welcome and keynote address, setting the tone for the day’s deliberations. Subsequently, dignitaries on the dais, including moderators and resource persons, were felicitated.
A pivotal part of the event was the speeches delivered by the Guest of Honour and the Chief Guest, shedding light on the architectural and cultural significance of Yumsharol from their respective domains. Additionally, Vidyapati Senjam, in his capacity as the Chief Host, offered insights into the social aspects of Yumsharol.
L. Swamikanta Singh, FIE, Chairman of the Institution of Engineers (India), Manipur State Centre, delivered the presidential speech, highlighting the importance of such collaborative endeavors in promoting cultural understanding and scientific discourse.
