L Cja has embarked on a mission to tackle the challenges posed by seasonal fluctuations in vegetable availability in Manipur. With the launch of his frozen vegetable line, Thounaojam Sudhir Singh, the proprietor of L Cja, aims to provide off-season vegetables at accessible prices, particularly focusing on local delicacies such as Yongchak, or Stinky Beans, and Bamboo Shoots.
“In Manipur, we often witness a surplus of vegetables during the harvesting season, leading to significant wastage. Our goal is to minimize this wastage by freezing these products, thereby ensuring their availability during the off-season,” stated Singh.
Highlighting the focus on preserving local delicacies, he has emphasized, “Our primary focus is on products like Yongchak and Bamboo Shoots, which are integral to Manipuri cuisine. By freezing these items, we aim to extend their shelf life and make them available to consumers throughout the year.”
One of the key aspects of his initiative is to keep the prices of frozen vegetables low, considering the economic challenges faced by the people of Manipur. “We understand the economic constraints of our customers, and hence, we are committed to offering our products at affordable prices,” he affirmed.
The introduction of frozen vegetables by L Cja not only addresses the issue of seasonal scarcity but also aligns with efforts to promote sustainable consumption practices.
