Education Minister, Dr. Thokchom Radheshyam today chaired a Sensitisation Programme on National Education Policy, 2020 organised by the Directorate of University & Higher Education held at the Conference Hall of the Directorate.
Addressing the sensitization programme, the Minister said that it is important to disseminate and analyse the new education policy in detail to ensure effective implementation in its spirit and intent through coherence in planning and synergy across all bodies involved in education. The programme conducted specially for the college principals, teachers along with the officials concerned of the directorate discussed the higher education sectors with respect to the National Education Policy, 2020.
Commissioner Higher & Technical Education M. Harekrishna; Joint Director, University & Higher Education, T. Ojit Singh also attended the programme.
Briefing the media, Dr. Th. Radheshyam said that with the new education policy approved by the Union Cabinet on 29, July 2020, series of brainstorming discussions are being organised with the stakeholders to find best possible ways for effective implementation of the National Education Policy, 2020 in the state.
The Minister said that the sensitisation programme focused on the different provisions of higher and technical education – the colleges, universities and role of the teachers – that may be needed to be addressed and ensuring the preparedness for transforming higher education institutions into multidisciplinary universities, colleges and HEI clusters. He believed that regular discussions will bring a detailed effective implementation of the policy.
Power points presentation on National Education Policy, 2020 was also given during the meeting by three resource persons.
