Chief Minister N. Biren Singh today returns from New Delhi without meeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah however, he seems less worried as he came out of the Bir Tikendrajit International Airport soon after his arrival at around 3 pm today.
Interestingly Congress MLA, Abdul Nasir who had resigned from the Manipur Legislative Assembly and the Congress party along with 5 other Congress MLAs, but didn’t joined the BJP also return on the same flight that the Chief Minister boarded. Congress MLA RK Imo who had been expelled by the state Congress party also came back in the same flight today.
Speaking to reporters, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said that every misunderstanding within the party has been settled and the BJP is all set to fight for the by-election. On being questioned on whether those joining the BJP will get the BJP ticket while contesting the by-election, the Chief Minister said that it is the Central leadership that will decide on whom to allot party ticket. He said he went along with the resigned Congress MLAs to introduce them to the Central leadership and let their courage acknowledged to the party leaders.
When asked about the schedule for the by-election, the Chief Minister said that the by-election for the vacant assembly constituencies after the resignation of the MLAs will be held along with the Bihar election.
Meanwhile, former Congress MLA Abdul Nasir who had left the Congress party and resigned from the State Assembly member is likely to contest election as an independent candidate. His sidelining from joining the BJP along with the 5 others does not mean that he will not get support from the Chief Minister, political observers said. However, it will be up to the decision of his workers at Lilong Assembly constituency on how he is contesting the election.
Meanwhile, MLA RK Imo who was expelled from the Congress party does not reveal on his stand about joining any other political party. However, as the Chief Minister happens to be his father-in-law, rumours are going around about his joining the BJP in the coming days.
