MAHUD and Town Planning Minister Shri Thounaojam Shyamkumar inspected the under-construction water treatment plants and a water reservoir at Koreingei, Sangakpham, Canchipur and Iroisemba yesterday.
The construction projects are under the funding of Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India to provide portable drinking water to all urban areas under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme.
Minister Th. Shyamkumar along with the officials of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) inspected the construction sites at Koreingei, Sangakpham, Canchipur and Iroisemba. The Minister and the PHED officials reviewed the progress of the construction and gave necessary advice.
MAHUD and Town Planning Minister Th. Shyamkumar said that the Centre has sanctioned the funds to his department and Public Health Engineering Department is the implementing agency for providing portable drinking water to all. He said the department is targeting to complete the projects by the end of this year.
It may be mentioned that the AMRUT scheme was launched by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in June 2015 with the focus to establish infrastructure that could ensure adequate robust sewage networks and water supply for urban transformation by implementing urban revival projects.
