The Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) organised a homecoming programme today, at Dilung Headquarters, Camp Aararat. The event marked the formal joining of seven leaders and cadres from the NSCN(R) into the fold of the ZUF.
According to a statement issued by Louis Gangmei, Secretary of Information & Publicity, ZUF, the Front expressed joy in welcoming the new entrants and described the occasion as a reaffirmation of brotherhood and shared purpose among the Zeliangrong and its kindred people.
Gangmei conveyed that the current political climate in the Northeast and across the country necessitates serious reflection and decisive action to safeguard the political rights and future of the Zeliangrong community. He stated that the ZUF is committed to guiding and uniting the Zeliangrong people under a shared vision for a secure and dignified homeland.
He further expressed deep appreciation to the leaders and cadres from NSCN(R) who had, in what was described as a courageous and principled move, joined the ZUF along with five arms and ammunition.
The ZUF recognised their past roles and contributions to their previous organisation and commended their decision to join the Zeliangrong United Front as a testament to their leadership and commitment to unity, peace, and the collective well-being of the Zeliangrong people.
Gangmei noted that despite facing challenges and resistance, the leaders’ farsightedness and determination stood out in this pivotal step. He concluded by stating that the ZUF remains hopeful and inspired by the trust placed in them, and reaffirmed the Front’s resolve to work towards a united and stronger future for the Zeliangrong community.
