A Village Prosperity Resilience Plan (VPRP) Convergence Mela for Self-Help Groups (SHGs) was held at Kyamgei Khagingamba Community Hall in the Keirao Assembly Constituency today. The event was organised by the Keirao Women Multipurpose Co-operative Society Limited under the Manipur State Rural Livelihood Mission (MSRLM).
The Mela saw the participation of thirty government line departments, each setting up stalls aimed at providing direct support to SHGs and women entrepreneurs. The initiative was designed to serve as a convergence platform, enabling women to access various government welfare schemes, establish networks, and strengthen their journey towards economic self-sufficiency.
During the programme, Salam Kiranbala, President of the Keirao Women Multipurpose Co-operative Society Limited, reportedly urged women to actively participate in the changes brought about by globalization. She observed that while women had long been confined to domestic responsibilities, the current era called for their increased involvement in public and economic life. She also acknowledged the government’s role in promoting women’s empowerment through financial assistance and SHG formation.
The VPRP Convergence Mela aimed to foster direct interaction between SHG members, Panchayati Raj Institutions, and various government departments.
The event was attended by Zilla Parishad members from five Gram Panchayats under the Keirao Assembly Constituency, as well as local ward members and the Chairperson.
