Imphal, Nov 4:
In a significant development, Manipur Police have apprehended Khullem Sanjeep, also known as Bhim, a 30-year-old member of the AT group, in connection with a recent assault incident. Sanjeep, the son of the late Kh. Tomba and a resident of Naoremthong DC Road, was detained after an investigation into the October 31 attack, in which two individuals from Senapati were reportedly assaulted in the Lamsang area during early hours. Following his arrest, Sanjeep has been remanded to police custody for further interrogation as authorities intensify their probe.
In light of this incident and ongoing security challenges in Manipur, comprehensive search and area domination operations have been initiated by security forces across both hill and valley districts. These operations aim to secure vulnerable areas, particularly those prone to inter-community tensions, ensuring stability and deterring potential disruptions.
To maintain the smooth movement of essential supplies, security measures have been bolstered along National Highway-2 (NH-2), a key supply route for the state. On this route, a convoy of 48 vehicles carrying essential goods was successfully escorted under heavy security, with additional deployment at vulnerable points to safeguard the vehicles and their occupants.
Additionally, a network of 110 checkpoints, or ‘Nakas,’ has been established across Manipur’s districts, covering both hill and valley regions. These checkpoints are part of an ongoing effort to prevent unauthorized activities and uphold public order. During the recent operations, seven individuals were detained for violating state regulations, underscoring the government’s commitment to both securing essential goods transport and maintaining stringent enforcement across sensitive areas.
