The All Manipur Dalit Development Association (AMDDA) organised a meeting today at Akampat Relief Camp to deliberate on the welfare and well-being of the displaced people from Tengnoupal District. The meeting was attended by members of the association from various districts.
Speaking at the programme, President of AMDDA, Dr. TM Rajen Ayangba, said the association would continue working to ensure that the assistance provided by the Centre reaches the displaced people. He also stressed the need to enable the displaced residents of Moreh in Tengnoupal District to return to their homes and live peacefully, while urging the Centre to provide necessary aid for the reconstruction of their damaged properties.
Highlighting that several states across the country are receiving Central assistance for farmers, Dr. Rajen informed that a memorandum has been submitted to the Ministry requesting similar support for around five lakh farmers in Manipur. He expressed optimism that such assistance could soon be extended to the State.
He further stated that, in view of the high unemployment rate in the State, the association has been urging relevant authorities to improve the financial conditions of the youth by creating livelihood opportunities. The association would continue its efforts for the welfare of the people, he added.
