In a heartwarming gesture to spread Christmas cheer, the Ukhrul Football Club (UFC) officially launched its Ukhrul-Imphal passenger Winger service on Tuesday, December 24, 2024. To mark the festive occasion, the club extended a free ride service for all passengers traveling between Ukhrul and Imphal as a special Christmas gift.
The launch event, held at the Ukhrul Mini Secretariat, was graced by Eno. Qr. Ngamreiwung Luithui, SDO of LM Block and patron of UFC, who inaugurated the service. Also present were renowned national football player and UFC’s technical manager, Eno. Reisangmi Vashum, SDO of Chingai Eno. Roland Ningshen, Reverend Pastor, community elders, UFC Board members, Managing Director Eno. Angaritsing, and other well-wishers.
Speaking at the event, Eno. Ngamreiwung Luithui highlighted UFC’s inspiring journey and its significant contributions to football in the Tangkhul community. “UFC has come a long way, excelling in the field of football and producing numerous state and national players. Their dedication has brought laurels and championship trophies, serving as a beacon of inspiration for the Tangkhul people,” he remarked. He further encouraged the club to continue its efforts, expressing hope that UFC would achieve even greater milestones in the future.
Eno. Khareithan Phungchamnao, Executive Director of UFC, shared insights into the club’s journey and its initiative to launch the passenger service. He explained that UFC was founded on a strong foundation, supported by Top ranking government employees, professionals, social workers, and passionate football enthusiasts. Over the years, UFC has grown to become a household name in football across Ukhrul.
“To sustain the club’s operations and fund its activities, we devised a plan to offer passenger services to the public,” Khareithan said. “This initiative is not just a means of generating funds but also a way of giving back to the community. Today’s free Christmas drive is our way of spreading joy and ensuring that everyone, especially the needy, can travel comfortably between Ukhrul and Imphal.”
The newly launched Winger service aims to provide reliable and affordable transport for the people of Ukhrul and Imphal, catering to a long-standing demand for better connectivity between the two towns.
