The Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) has expressed grief over the death of its cadre, Lance Corporal (L) Soraisham Meiraba alias Jason (MFL Army No. 709), who succumbed to injuries sustained during an armed encounter on October 29.
In a press statement issued on October 30, the party said Meiraba was injured during a prolonged exchange of fire at Panmang Thangba Lansang, where he was engaged in fighting against opposing forces. He later succumbed to his injuries.
Meiraba, son of Soraisham Biswajit and Soraisham Ongbi Memi Leima, was the youngest of three siblings. He was a graduate and hailed from Khurai Chingangbam Leikai.
According to the KCP, Meiraba joined the party in June 2024 and completed the 23rd batch of Basic Military Training (BMT) of its armed wing, Miyamgi Fingang Lanmi (MFL), on September 23, 2024. He was subsequently posted to the Hirachandra Force Company (HFC).
The party described him as a dedicated cadre who had demonstrated courage and commitment in the line of duty. It said his death was a major loss to the organisation and expressed solidarity with his bereaved family.
