Imphal, April 28:
The Deputy Commissioner of Imphal East District, Mayanglambam Rajkumar Singh, has informed that an online platform has been launched for farmers in the district to apply for relief assistance concerning Kharif crops (paddy) that could not be cultivated in 2023 due to the ongoing crisis in the state.
According to a directive from the Principal Secretary (Agriculture) of the Government of Manipur, farmers who had applied for compensation after the September 6, 2023, deadline are now required to submit their applications online. The online process is available through the website https://farmercompensation.in, with applications to be made using Aadhaar-linked mobile numbers.
It was mentioned that farmers will need to upload a photo of the affected areas (if accessible) or a Google Map image if the area is inaccessible. Additionally, applicants will be able to track the status of their applications at any point after submission on the website.
The application process will be verified by the concerned Sub-Divisional Officers (SDOs) in collaboration with the District Agriculture Officer (DAO), utilizing geo-tagged photos, drone images, and other available data, ensuring that only genuinely affected farmers are approved for the relief assistance.
The deadline for submitting applications online is May 31, 2025, and any applications received after this date will not be entertained.
Farmers were informed to upload Aadhaar Card, Land documents (Patta for surveyed land or documents issued by the Deputy Commissioner for un-surveyed or khas land), Tenant Certificate (if applicable) and Bank Passbook with Account Number and IFSC Code during the application process.
Once the online submission is complete, applicants are required to submit a copy of the acknowledgment receipt to the Branch Officer concerned, indicating that the application is for compensation related to Kharif crops (paddy) for the year 2023.
The initiative aims to offer timely relief to farmers who faced significant crop losses due to the ongoing challenges in the state.
