Manipur Governor Dr. K.K. Paul extended warm greetings to the people of Manipur particularly to the Zeliangrong brethren on the occasion of Gaan Ngai, 2015.
In his message Dr. K.K. Paul said that Gaan Ngai is the Festival of Winter Season for the Zeliangrong community and it is celebrated for paying respect and homage to those departed souls who left this brief world in the preceding year. It also symbolizes the end of a year giving way to a new one, full of hope and ambition. Over the years, the festival has evolved into a major cultural event of not only the Zeliangrong community but of other communities as well regardless of caste, creed or religion. Apart from being essentially an occasion of worship and devotion, it is also an occasion of making joy and merriment now joined by people of all communities. The festival is certainly an opportunity for different people to come together and strengthen the bond of friendship and brotherhood.
Governor’s message also appealed all the people of the state celebrate Gaan Ngai in its true spirit with traditional gaiety and devotion and ring in the new for a peaceful and prosperous Manipur.
