Family members of Ksh Sushil, who was killed in the October 19 Nongshum incident, joined a sit-in protest at Uyumpok Mamang Leikai in Imphal East district today, expressing solidarity with the demand for justice over the recent killing of three civilians at Sunurok.
The participation of Sushil’s family added a poignant dimension to the protest, as the bereaved family joined others in expressing grief and concern over the continuing threat to civilian lives in Manipur.
The sit-in was organised in the wake of the October 19 incident at Nongshum and the subsequent killing of three civilians at Sunurok, Imphal East district, reportedly by militants. The incidents have heightened public concern over civilian security and the need to ensure accountability for violence against ordinary people.
The presence of Sushil’s family underscored the continuing anguish of families affected by the violence and their demand for justice. Their participation also reflected solidarity among those seeking protection for civilians and an end to further bloodshed.
The protesters gathered at Uyumpok Mamang Leikai to express their opposition to the killings and draw attention to the urgent need for effective measures to prevent further attacks on innocent people.
The incidents have once again raised serious questions about the safety of civilians and the need for those responsible for the killings to be brought to justice in accordance with law.
