The protests took place at Keishamthong Elangbam Leikai, Keishampat Thiyam Leikai, Hodam Leirak, Thokchom Leikai, Patsoi, Singjamei, Khurai, Langjing, Uripok, Nagamapal, Kwakeithel, DM College Gate, Lamphel Sana Keithel, Naoremthong, Langol, Pungdongbam, Sagolband, Porompat and other areas.
Protesters condemned the killing of the three woodcutters, who were reportedly collecting firewood for their daily needs, and urged the state government to take immediate action against those responsible. They also expressed concern over the continuing threat to civilian safety amid ongoing violence.
One protester said people had long been yearning for peace and normalcy, questioning the government’s repeated claims that the situation was improving. The protester urged the authorities to take concrete steps to end the violence and ensure accountability for the killings.
Another demonstrator questioned claims of a return to peace, citing continued killings of indigenous Naga and Meitei people, and called on the government to stop making claims unsupported by the ground situation.
The protesters demanded the prompt arrest and prosecution of those responsible and effective measures to prevent further attacks on civilians, stressing that lasting peace must be reflected in the safety of the people.
