In a swift action, the Churachandpur Police arrested three individuals, including two police constables, in connection with a firing incident that occurred near the G/129 CRPF campus, close to the Old DC Guest House, around 3 am on Wednesday.
According to police sources, the miscreants allegedly fired three rounds in the air from a moving car that was coming from the direction of Churachandpur College. The vehicle involved was identified and subsequently intercepted around noon on the same day. One of the occupants, identified as Mangkholun Haokip, was apprehended, and a 9mm pistol used in the crime was recovered.
Further investigation led to the arrest of two police constables, Paominthang Haokip and Thonglenkhai, who were suspected to have been involved in the incident.
During the firing, the sentry posted at the main gate of G/129 Battalion CRPF retaliated by firing a single round from his service rifle, after which the miscreants fled the scene. A case has been registered at Churachandpur Police Station under FIR No. 68(4)2025 CCP-PS, invoking sections 351(2)/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and 25(1-C) of the Arms Act, and an investigation is underway.
