Imphal, Jan 25:
In light of the ongoing violence, the World Meitei Council (WMC) has recognized the need for the Meitei community to fortify itself. In a press conference held today in Imphal, WMC announced its resolutions aimed at addressing the challenges faced by the community.
The WMC’s resolutions encompass a range of initiatives, including the offering of prayers for those who have lost their lives during the turbulent times. The Council commended the efforts to foster unity among the political leadership of the state, particularly highlighting the meeting organized by Arambai Tenggol at Kangla.
Furthermore, the WMC urged the community to actively contribute to the establishment of a People’s Assembly Hall. This proposed venue would serve as a collective space for Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and student organizations in Manipur to make decisions regarding the state’s affairs.
In a bid to enhance the safety and preparedness of Meitei youth, the WMC expressed support for the United Friendship Organisation’s (UFO) initiative to provide self-defense training. The Council pledged necessary assistance to ensure comprehensive self-defense training, known as “sarit sara,” for Meitei youth both within Manipur and beyond, aligning with the efforts of UFO.
As a final commitment, the WMC vowed active participation in all movements initiated by the Manipuri people. This pledge is directed towards contributing to endeavors aimed at improving the future prospects and overall well-being of the Meitei community.
