The Second edition of Tamenglong Christmas Marathon 2024 was successfully organized today under the theme “Run for Health” at Tamenglong District Headquarters. The event is organised by Adventure Club of Tamenglong in collaboration with Endurers, Rainforest Club Tamenglong, Path finder, Decathlon, 9 to 10 shop, Liangtuang Gym, The Gaanphiu Mail, The Tamenglong Times, and The Cham and supported by the 6 Assam Rifles, Tamenglong.
Rev. Guigongdai Pamei, Associate Pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Tamenglong dedicated the event with a prayer. Altogether 142 runners across different age categories for both males and females participated in the marathon which started from the 6 AR Post at Akhui and finished at Jadonang Park. The event concluded with an award ceremony with Lanmiyo Luikham, MPS, Superintendent of Police Tamenglong as the Chief Guest of the Function. The chief guest encouraged the participants with his speech to continue striving to stay fit and healthy. He expressed his satisfaction to witness young and old, males and females participating in the event.
Cash prizes along with medals and certificates each were awarded to all winners and all the finishers were awarded with medals. The prizes are sponsored by generous philanthropists in Tamenglong and beyond.
Shangthon Kamei, Co-convenor of Tamenglong Christmas Marathon thanked all the participants, donors, volunteers, guests and the public. He also thanked the Police Department, 6 Assam Rifles, Medical department and everyone who lent support and encouragement towards the successful organising of the Marathon event.
The Tamenglong Christmas Marathon is an annual event organised with an aim to spread the message of choosing to stay fit, free from alcohol and substance abuse. It is also a joyful celebration of Christmas, promoting a message of love, joy, peace and togetherness.
