Tribal Youth Council Manipur seeks stay on CFO’s transfer

IT News
Imphal, Nov 9:

The Tribal Youth Council Manipur, General Headquarters (TYCM-GHQ), has submitted a representation to Chief Minister of Manipur, N. Biren Singh, requesting an immediate stay on the transfer of Ramnganing Zimik, Chief Finance Officer (CFO) of the Directorate of Tribal Affairs & Hills. The Council urged for his retention in the current role, citing his effective contribution to tribal community development. The Council also called for the recruitment of tribal officers and staff to address the underrepresentation in the Directorate.
On October 7, TYCM-GHQ had submitted a memorandum requesting the revamping of the Directorate to better serve the tribal communities. However, on October 23, the Government of Manipur transferred Ramnganing Zimik to the Agriculture Department under Order No. TP-6/2/2023-DP-DP. TYCM-GHQ expressed strong opposition to this transfer, claiming that it undermines the interests of the tribal communities and hampers progress in the Directorate.
Currently, the Directorate has only three tribal officers, including the Director, out of a total staff of 46, limiting its capacity to address the needs of the tribal population effectively.
