The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, inaugurated a Cryoablation Machine today, alongside a hands-on workshop on cryoablation for pain management. Attendees included RIMS Director Prof. G. Sunil Kumar Sharma, Prof. S. Subash Chandra Singh, Acting Medical Superintendent, Prof. L. Nilachandra Singh, PMR Head, and Dr. Sidharth Verma, founder of Painacea India and the Mumbai Pain School.
Prof. G. Sunil Kumar Sharma highlighted the machine’s significance as India’s first of its kind in a government hospital, offering a breakthrough in minimally invasive pain relief with fewer side effects. He reiterated RIMS’ commitment to enhancing patient care and quality of life through advanced technology.
Led by Dr. Verma, the workshop provided medical professionals with practical training to enhance their expertise in pain management. The event saw active participation from RIMS officials, faculty, and students.
In a separate program, RIMS hosted a two-day HIV Sentinel Surveillance Plus 2025 training, in collaboration with the National AIDS Control Organization (NACO), focusing on antenatal care and prison settings in the North East Zone. This initiative underscored RIMS and NACO’s dedication to strengthening public health and HIV/AIDS prevention efforts.
