Manipuri Diaspora Bengaluru signs MoU with Legal Firm to support community

The Manipuri Diaspora Bengaluru (MDB) announced the successful signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with GPR Law Associates, a reputed legal consultancy firm, to provide legal assistance to members of the Manipuri community residing in Bengaluru and its surrounding areas. The MoU was signed on Saturday, May 24, 2025, during a formal event held at Rajajinagar.
MDB stated that the partnership was established to offer community members legal support, guidance, and education, enabling them to address various legal challenges with greater confidence. The organisation mentioned that the agreement would provide access to expert legal counsel on a wide range of matters, including civil and criminal cases, property disputes, and labour rights. The collaboration also intends to conduct legal awareness programmes to improve legal literacy among the community.
The organisation further informed that Mr. Rajesh A.M., IFS, Joint Resident Commissioner and Liaison Officer for the Government of Manipur, would act as the coordinating representative between MDB, GPR Law Associates, and the state government. His involvement is expected to ensure smooth implementation of the MoU.
MDB General Secretary Chinir Angkham Moyon remarked that the signing of the MoU was a significant milestone for the organisation. He conveyed that it marked a step forward in MDB’s mission to support the community holistically by enhancing access to justice and safeguarding individual rights.
