The Patriotic Writers Forum (PAWF), Manipur will confer the “Lamyanba Hijam Irawat Lifetime Achievement Award 2026” on Huironbgam Binod Bihari Singha and Usham Ongbi Bindarani in recognition of their contributions to social welfare and community development.
The awards will be presented during the 130th birth anniversary celebration of Lamyanba Hijam Irawat at Nandapur Durga Mandir, Hojai, Assam, on September 30 at 10 am.
The annual award is given to individuals who have dedicated themselves to social welfare in different fields. This year’s awards are sponsored by PAWF Assistant Secretary Laimujam Pratap Singh in memory of his late sister, Laimujam Naotombi.
Huironbgam Binod Bihari Singha, born on January 1, 1957, to Huironbgam Man Singha and Huironbgam Ongbi Suniti Bala Devi, is a resident of Nandapur, Hojai. An educator and social worker, he has been associated with initiatives for the welfare of the Meitei community and currently serves as chairman of the Lamyanba Hijam Irawat Statue Construction Committee in Nandapur.
Usham Ongbi Bindarani, born on March 5, 1961, to Mutum Joykumar Singha and Mutum Ongbi Ibetombi Singha in Sonai, Cachar, is the eldest of five siblings. She is currently president of the Central Committee of the Manipuri Women Literary & Cultural Organisation, Hojai, having earlier served as its advisor. She also played a leading role in the installation of a life-size Nupi Lal statue at Thambal Rising Club, Govindapur, on December 12, 2024.
The programme is being organised by PAWF Manipur in collaboration with the Manipuri Women Literary & Cultural Organisation, Hojai, and the Lamyanba Hijam Irawat Memorial Day Celebration Committee, Hojai.
