The Matric-based alumni of Wabagai Higher Secondary School from the batches of 1976, 1978, 1985, 1992 and 1994 will organise the 5th “Shintakpashing Ningshing Thouram” on October 5, coinciding with World Teachers’ Day.
Alumni Convenor Elangbam Surchand, retired Principal of Kakching Higher Secondary School, announced the programme during a press briefing held at Wabagai Higher Secondary School.
Surchand said the ceremony aims to revive the traditional bond between teachers and students, which he said had been stronger in earlier times. He noted that the changing social environment has seen instances of strained teacher-student relationships and said the programme seeks to promote mutual respect, good character and a positive teacher-student relationship among the younger generation.
He appealed to former students of Wabagai Higher Secondary School now working in different fields to participate in the ceremony. Interested alumni have been asked to contact members of the alumni body or call 9862728369 by October 3.
Dr. E. Iboyaima, Associate Professor in the Department of Economics, Manipur College, will attend as Chief Guest, while H. Jayentakumar, Head of the Department of Mathematics, DM College of Science, will preside over the function. Dr. M. Modhumangol, retired Head of the Department of ENT, RIMS, and M. Mani Meitei, former Dean of Humanities, Manipur University, will attend as Guests of Honour.
