The Longa Koireng Village Authority today celebrated Khullakpa Investiture Ceremony of S.R. Choungam Koireng, son of Late S.R. Sokhel Koireng, as the Khullakpa of Longa Koireng Village, Kangchup Geljang Sub-Division, Kangpokpi District, Manipur with traditional fervour of the Koireng Tribe. The solemn event was conducted under the guidance of Samson Panmei, Pastor of Longa Koireng Baptist Church.
Distinguished figures such as Md. Hefajuddin, MCS, Sub-Divisional Officer, Kangchup Bungte Chiru, and Syed Samir Ahamed, MPS, Additional SP, Kangpokpi, graced the occasion as Special Invited Guests, alongside esteemed Khullakpa and Luklakpa representatives from various Koireng Tribe villages.
The ceremony commenced with the symbolic erection of a Monolith at Lamkir, marking the entry to the village, followed by formal proceedings hosted at the residence of the newly appointed Khullakpa. The event showcased a vibrant display of the Koireng Tribe’s rich cultural heritage, featuring unique folk songs, traditional dances, melodious music, stirring war chants, and the resonant cries emblematic of the tribe’s identity.
S.R. Choungam Koireng, a retired Senior Arts Graduate Teacher under the Education (S) Department of the Government of Manipur, assumes the esteemed position as the 10th Khullakpa of Longa Koireng Village, carrying forward a legacy of leadership and service to the community.
