Joint SF apprehends UG cadres and recovered of arms & ammunition

Between May 5 and May 12, 2025, the Indian Army, along with the Assam Rifles, conducted a series of joint operations across various districts in Manipur, including Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Tengnoupal, Chandel, and Senapati. A statement by PRO & Spokesperson, Ministry of Defence, Manipur, Nagaland and Southern Arunachal Pradesh said that those operations were carried out in close coordination with Manipur Police, CRPF, BSF, and ITBP.
The statement said that the coordinated efforts led to the apprehension of 16 cadres associated with both hill and valley-based groups. Additionally, security forces recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition, including 17 firearms, 17 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), grenades, and various war-like materials.
On 4 and 5 May 2025, the Assam Rifles and Manipur Police successfully recovered one AK-47 Rifle, one modified .303 Rifle, 11 IEDs, grenades, ammunition, and war-like stores from locations in Tingri in Imphal West and Chamol Top in Chandel. On 07 May 2025, another operation in T Minou, Tengnoupal, resulted in the recovery of one AK-56, one INSAS Rifle, one Carbine, six IEDs, grenades, and other ammunition and war-like stores.
Further operations on 08 May 2025, in the general area of Taphou Kuki, Senapati district, led to the recovery of two Bolt Action Single Barrel Rifles, one .22 Rifle, one 9mm Pistol, along with ammunition and other war-like materials.
On 10 May 2025, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police recovered an SLR, an SBBL Gun, two Pt 22 Rifles, one modified .303 Rifle, three 9mm Pistols, grenades, ammunition, and additional war-like stores from Sajirok in Imphal West.
In addition to the recovery of weapons, 17 cadres from various banned organizations were apprehended and subsequently handed over to Manipur Police for further legal action.
These successful operations are seen as a clear demonstration of the security forces’ unwavering commitment to upholding peace and security in the region.
