The Group Centre, CRPF Imphal, commemorated the birth anniversary of legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand by organizing National Sports Day celebrations from August 29 to 31.
The observance began with a National Sports Day pledge administered by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), M&N Sector, highlighting the significance of the day and the contributions of Major Dhyan Chand to Indian sports. On the occasion, Padmashri awardee Kunjarani Devi, Commandant, CRPF, was honoured by the IGP, M&N Sector, and DIGP, GC Imphal.
As part of the celebrations, various sports activities including Fit India pledge-taking, yoga sessions, cricket and football matches, and “Sundays on Cycle” were held at the Group Centre, CRPF Langjing, under the supervision of the IGP, M&N Sector and DIGP, GC Imphal. Senior officers and force personnel actively participated in the events.
The programme aimed at promoting physical fitness, teamwork and healthy living. Participants displayed commendable sporting skills and discipline, with winners receiving trophies while all participants were encouraged for their sportsmanship.
