Lamka, Sept. 12: One day workshop on International Humanitarian Law was held today at Kuki Inpi, Churachandpur office,Tuibuong, Churachandpur. The workshop was jointly organized by Good Samaritan Fundation, and Rural Development & Research Agency, Churachandpur. During the workshop Thangsei Haokip, President, Kuki Inpi, Manipur, and Dr. Vungzamawi Co-ordinator, IGNOU attended as resource personsSpeaking to the gathering, KIM president Thangsei Haokip said Armed Non-state Actor (ANSA) aims to promote their adherence to deed of commitment for adherence to a total ban on anti-personal mines and for cooperation in mine actor was launched in 2000,he said that the Deed of Commitment (DoC) are for protection of Children from the effects of armed conflict which was launched in the late 2010. He further said SoC is for the prohibition of sexual violence in situations of armed conflict and towards the elimination of gender discrimination which was published in June 2012.He said the three SoCs reflect international standards, which provide ANSA’s with the opportunity to express their willingness to abide by humanitarian norms and take ownership of the rules. In addition, Thangsei Haokip said signatory of ANSA’s agree to take necessary enforcement measures and to take a cooperative with the Geneva Cell in the scrutiny of their compliance.The KIM president also said that where ANSA are not yet ready to signed the DoCs, or undertake a similar commitment, Geneva Call favours a progressive step by step approach to reduce the impact of conflict on civilian populations.Explaining his point a signatory of Armed Non-state Actor (ANSA_) of Deed of Commitment in Northeast India are NSCN-IM in 2003, for land mine, KNO in 2006 Land mine , and ZRO in 2009 are land mine, gender & sexual violence plus ANSAs signed DOC for international.
