Police arrests more activists of JCILP; force shops to open

More members of the JCILP students’ wing, including Human Resource Secretary Manjit Singh were arrested today morning by the state police force from different area. Soon after the announcement of curfew on non Manipuri by the students’ Wing of JCILP yesterday evening, a team of Imphal East police raided the office of the JCILP located at Nongmeibung and arrested five members of the JCILP from the residence of the Convenor Ibotombi Khuman at Haobam Marak Keisham Leikai. Among the arrested was Co-convenor Pukhrambam Arjun, who was recently released following the demand of the JCILP.According to report, student wing volunteers of the JCILP today conducted drives at various places to enforce the curfew imposed against the non Manipuri since early morning today. State police team who had been alerted since yesterday’s announcement arrested around 10 members of the Students Wing volunteers from Paona Bazaar, AMSU Head Quarters and Bishnupur area.Report says that a police team today came to the office complex of AMSU and picked up 4 member at around 8 am. Those arrested includes Prem, Rojit, Naoba and Yaima. Two other students identified as Ranjan and Rakesh were arrested from Paona Bazaar while they were trying to shut the shops run by non locals.Five member of the DESAM Bishnupur Unit were also arrested by the police team today morning. The five arrested students have been identified as Bullet, Bishorjit, Rocket, Manojand Naoba.Meanwhile, police today force the non Manipuri to open their shop which were shuts due to fear of the curfew imposes to them.
