The United Peoples’ Front (UPF) has announced a month-long observance of “National Re-consolidation Month” from December 9, 2025 to January 9, 2026, featuring a series of commemorative events, public discussions and outreach programmes across Manipur and neighbouring states.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday, the UPF president said the initiative, themed “Ekhôi amuk hanna khuntaklaroisi”, seeks to reconnect younger generations with the legacy of Maharaj Gambhir Singh and other historical figures who played pivotal roles in Manipur’s territorial and political consolidation.
The observance will begin on December 9 with an inaugural programme at Kangla at 9:30 am. This will be followed by the laying of the foundation stone of Sana Herachandra (Taku Ningthou) at Chinga Singjamei on December 10. A social service event at a historical site is scheduled for December 11.
On December 14, a one-day discussion session on Maharaj Gambhir Singh and National Re-consolidation Month will be held. The UPF delegation will then leave for Shillong on December 19, where another discussion on National Re-consolidation is scheduled at Red Land on December 20.
The programme expands beyond the state, with the UPF set to inaugurate a statue of Bir Tikendrajit at Manipuri Basti, Guwahati, on December 21. A public meeting will also be held there before the team proceeds to Silchar on December 22 for another public event.
On December 23, floral tributes will be offered at Nara Singh Ningsing Lampak-cum-Manipur Museum at Manipur Levy Lampak, Chandrapur, Cachar. Further tributes and a public meeting are planned on December 24 at Awapalli Khubam, Kamaranga and Lengondabi Pat (Khoirel).
The concluding programmes on December 25 include floral tributes at the statues of Maharani Induprabha and Maharaj Gambhir Singh during the Chahi Taret Khuntakpa observance, followed by a public meeting at Kalyan Gumbra, Jalalpur, Cachar district. The final discussion on National Re-consolidation and the role of Maharaj Gambhir Singh will be held at Manipur Boys’ Hostel, Silchar.
