The Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) has denied police claims that three individuals arrested for allegedly attempting to hurl a bomb at the Sangai Festival venue were members of the outfit.
In a statement issued by S. Mangal, Secretary-in-Charge (Information & Publicity), the KCP said that media reports on November 27, which stated that three KCP cadres had been arrested in connection with an attempted attack, were incorrect. It clarified that none of the arrested individuals are associated with the organisation.
The arrested persons — identified as Laishram Sonia, 31, of Okram Chuthek in Imphal East; Salam Luwanganba Meitei alias Ibungo, 22, of Tera Sadokpam Leikai in Imphal West; and Phamdom Phampok Meitei alias Ajoy alias Abungcha, 29, of Wangjing Bazar in Thoubal district — are not members of the KCP or its armed wing, the MFL, the statement added.
The outfit also clarified that a Facebook account operated under the name “Meitei Lanmi Naotyboy” does not belong to the KCP. It stated that the organisation has not issued any directive to carry out bomb attacks in crowded areas.
The KCP warned that serious consequences would follow for anyone misusing social media to spread false propaganda in its name.
