UDO raises concerns over SSC GD 2025 recruitment for AR

Imphal, Sept 28:

The United Development Organization (UDO) has expressed concerns regarding the recent Staff Selection Commission (SSC) General Duty (GD) 2025 recruitment for Assam Rifles. According to the notification released on 5 September 2024, 90% of the vacancies for Assam Rifles have been reserved for aspirants from border guarding affected districts, while only 10% of vacancies are allocated for candidates from other districts in Manipur.
The UDO highlighted that out of 96 Assam Rifles vacancies allocated for Manipur, 86 are reserved for candidates from the border guarding affected districts, commonly referred to as hill areas. The remaining 10 vacancies, reserved for candidates from other parts of the state.
The organization is concerned that the 10% reservation for aspirants from non-border districts, or valley districts is disproportionately low, leading to frustration among those applicants. Furthermore, it questioned why 144 out of the total 422 vacancies in Manipur are designated for Scheduled Tribes, with 109 reserved specifically for border districts, leaving minimal opportunities for aspirants from other regions.
UDO raised further issues regarding the final merit list for the 2023 SSC GD recruitment, where several OBC candidates were reportedly left out. This has intensified concerns about potential discrimination and an unfair recruitment process in the upcoming 2025 round.
The UDO has called on Chief Minister N. Biren Singh to investigate the recruitment process, emphasizing the need for transparency and fairness. The organization demands a thorough investigation into the matter, urging the Chief Minister to take appropriate action against any malpractices by the Assam Rifles or SSC staff involved.
