Tahatnzam Youth Forum (TYF) has expressed full support to the ultimatum issued by the Naga Village Guard–Northern Command (NVG-NC) regarding the continued detention of six Naga civilians allegedly abducted on May 13, 2026.
In a press statement, TYF alleged that the civilians were abducted by KNF-P militants while travelling with their family members, including women and children. The organisation stated that although 14 abducted civilians were released through humanitarian efforts and exchanges, six persons still remain unaccounted for.
The forum accused Kuki groups of remaining silent on the issue while later issuing appeals for peace, brotherhood and humanity. It questioned the absence of public concern when Naga families were seeking clarity on the whereabouts of the missing civilians.
TYF stated that the Naga community had exercised restraint despite “repeated provocations” and asserted that Naga civil society organisations and volunteers had protected civilians, students, workers and travellers without discrimination during tense situations.
The organisation also alleged that armed attacks were carried out on Naga farmers near Pongringlong (Charoi Pandongba) close to Tupul on May 22, and claimed that militants from Mongkot Chephu village opened fire targeting a villager from Sharkapung.
Backing the stand of NVG-NC, TYF said the proposed transfer of detainees to the Naga Village Guard–Western Command in Tamenglong, if the six civilians are not released, reflected growing public sentiment among Nagas.
