Manipur team flagged off for SPIC MACAY International Convention

Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla today flagged off the Manipur contingent participating in the 11th SPIC MACAY International Convention, scheduled to be held from May 25 to 31, 2026 at Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
The Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY) is a voluntary, non-political movement that promotes Indian classical music, dance, folk traditions, crafts, yoga, meditation, heritage walks, classic cinema and other elements of cultural heritage among students.
This year’s convention will bring together young participants from across India and abroad, serving as a platform for cultural exchange and artistic interaction.
From Manipur, 18 participants including teachers and students from Assam Rifles Public Schools, Mantripukhri and Keithelmanbi, and Manipur University of Culture will attend the event.
During an interaction with the students, the Governor congratulated them and said the convention would provide valuable exposure to India’s diverse cultural heritage. He encouraged the participants to make full use of the opportunity by engaging with peers from different states and countries and gaining wider knowledge and experience.
The flag-off ceremony held at Lok Bhavan, Imphal, was attended by senior officials including Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South), Deputy Inspector General of 9 Sector Assam Rifles, the Chief Patron and President of SPIC MACAY Imphal Chapter, coordinating officers, and representatives of Assam Rifles Public Schools, Mantripukhri and Keithelmanbi.
