Tension erupted at the court premises of Thoubal District CJM, as several women folk stormed and blocked NH 2 in front of the court complex demanding capital punishment of Ashok Kom arrested by police in connection with the suspicious dead of his wife Yumnam Gitarani on February 7. Ashok Kom of Tonsem Lamkhai under Sugunu Police station, who is also a rifleman of 4 IRB, was arrested by a team of Sugunu Police on February 8 following a complaint lodged by the family members of the deceased girl. The irate women shouted slogans to arrest all the family members of Ashok Kom along with him accusing them of murdering the lady. They blocked the NH 2 at around 11 am in front of the court complex for few hours. However, a police team drive them away by firing tear gas shell. No one was injured in the action. Court source said that Ashok Kom was once more remanded in police custody upto February 18 for further investigation.
