All States must develop for India to progress: Speaker

Development of only some states cannot make India a developed nation; all states must progress together to achieve the goal of a developed India, Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Thokchom Satyabarta said.

He was speaking at a Seva Sankalp Abhiyan programme organised by the Imphal East District Administration at Naharol Shintha Kanglup Community Hall, Wangkhei Keithel Asangbi.

The programme, organised as part of the campaign being held from September 17 to October 17 to mark 25 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public service, brought around 30 government departments together to provide services and address public grievances at a single venue.

Speaking on the occasion, Satyabarta said the campaign was aimed at taking government schemes and services closer to the people and strengthening efforts towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047.

He said India could not achieve comprehensive development if only a few states progressed while others remained backward. He urged people to actively participate in ensuring that government schemes reach eligible beneficiaries and contribute to building a strong and economically developed India.

Wheelchairs and walking sticks were distributed to elderly and persons with mobility difficulties, while textbooks and uniforms were also provided to students.

Imphal East Deputy Commissioner Dr Nivedita Lairenlakpam, State Convenor of Seva Sankalp Abhiyan K. Sharat, BJP General Secretary P. Premananda and BJP Yaiskul Mandal president Laishram Satyabarma attended the programme.
