A significant gathering, combining a Community Event with campaigning for the 18th Lok Sabha II – Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency, convened at the Ukhrul Headquarters ground, Wino Bazaar, on Saturday. The event attracted a diverse audience, including prominent political figures, community leaders, and citizens from Ukhrul and Kamjong districts, as well as other areas, including Imphal.
Among the notable attendees were Qr. Khashim Vashum, Minister of Transport & Veterinary, Government of Manipur, D Tibu Gangmei, Chairman of the Hill Areas Committee (HAC), Phungyar MLA Leishiyo Keishing, former Manipur Legislative Deputy Speaker, BJP spokesperson Preshaw A Shimray, former Ukhrul MLA candidate Somatai Shaiza, alongside various representatives from political parties. Additionally, community leaders such as Headman of Hunphun/Ukhrul Qr. HA. Khayaiwo and Qr. Peter Wungnaoyo Hungpung graced the occasion.
The focal point of the event was the Tangkhul Community Empowerment Summit, a transformative endeavor aimed at fostering unity and empowerment among the Tangkhul community. Organized by the support group of Outer MP candidate Kachui Timothy Zimik, the summit was scheduled for April 20, 2024, at Ukhrul headquarters ground, Wino Bazaar, commencing from 12:00 noon.
The summit promised to be a celebration of mass participation and collective strength, featuring a unique musical collaboration with the Tangkhul Music Forum (TMF). Through captivating musical performances and engaging activities, the summit aimed to showcase the rich cultural heritage and artistic talents of the Tangkhul people while inspiring and mobilizing the community towards positive change and progress.
With the endorsement of Minister Khashim Vashum and various political entities including NPF, BJP, NPP, NDPP, and PDA, the summit epitomized a joint endeavor to uplift and empower the Tangkhul community. It provided a platform for dialogue, collaboration, and action, urging individuals to contribute towards the betterment of their community and society at large.
