As the general election for the 18th Lok Sabha Election in Ukhrul is scheduled for April 26, 2024, as the 2nd phase of the outer parliamentary election in the state, the District Election Office of Ukhrul has initiated preparations, including training sessions for reserved polling officers. The training, held at UHSS, marked the final patch of instruction before the polling day. The 2nd phase polling will cover the remaining 13 Assembly constituencies of the Outer Manipur Parliamentary seat.
The training sessions were organized in groups and shifts, with men polling personnel undergoing practical exercises and women personnel attending theory classes in the morning session, followed by a switch in the afternoon. Master trainers conducted sessions on various aspects including the operation and sealing of EVMs, VVPAT handling, mock and actual polling procedures, filling of various forms like 17A, 17B & 17C, and maintaining the presiding officer’s diary. Additionally, training encompassed the use of mobile applications such as Poll Star, e-Atlas, Traccar Apps, and Webcasting equipment.
A total of 89 polling officers, comprising 22 women and 67 men, received training. The District Election Office of Ukhrul also appointed 19 Sector Officers and 21 Micro Observers for the two assembly segments, namely 44-Ukhrul (ST) AC & 45-Chingai (ST) AC.
Meanwhile, in Chandel District, Deputy Commissioner Krishna Kumar convened a meeting with Sector Officers (SOs) and Sector Police Officers (SPOs) to discuss the conduct of the 2nd Phase Lok Sabha Election, 2024, at the conference room of the Chandel DC Office Complex. The DC emphasized the importance of vigilance and adherence to guidelines during the polling process, instructing officers to promptly address any issues that may arise and maintain constant communication with zonal officers. Chandel District, which is set to go to polls on April 26, 2024, comprises 74 Polling Stations, including 13 Women’s Polling Stations. According to the final roll dated January 1, 2024, the district has 42,731 eligible voters, including 20,940 males, 21,731 females, and one third gender individual.
