Ukhrul, July 10:
The Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL), along with four other Tangkhul apex organisations, has revoked the non-cooperation directive imposed against the Wung Tangkhul Region (WTR), ending more than three months of strained relations and calling for reconciliation, unity and peace within the Tangkhul community.
In a joint statement issued on Friday, the organisations said the non-cooperation movement, enforced on March 31, 2026, followed the killing of Hongbeili on March 28. The decision had been taken jointly by the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL), Tangkhul Naga Awunga Long (TNAL), Tangkhul Shanao Long (TSL), Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) and Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long (TMNL) in pursuit of justice and accountability.
The organisations said that after months of consultations and collective deliberations, they concluded that while the pursuit of justice remains important, preserving unity, peace and the long-term welfare of the Tangkhul community must take precedence. They acknowledged differences of opinion but stressed that such differences should not undermine the collective strength of the people.
Describing reconciliation as a Christian value, the joint statement said the community should be guided by the principles of forgiveness and faith while entrusting ultimate justice to Almighty God.
The five organisations accordingly announced that the non-cooperation order against the Wung Tangkhul Region stands revoked with immediate effect from July 10.
The joint declaration was signed by TNL President Sword Vashum, TNAL President Kashung Tennyson, TSL President Thingreiphi Lungharwoshi, TKS President Ramreichan Keishing and TMNL President Ringphapam Kasar.
The decision is expected to restore cooperation between the Tangkhul civil society organisations and the Wung Tangkhul Region, paving the way for renewed dialogue, mutual trust and community reconciliation.
