As part of the Sewa Parv being observed nationwide from September 17 to October 2 under the Nation First @ 75 Campaign, a tree plantation programme was organised at the Church and Anganwadi Centre of Kanankhu village, Chandel. During the event, 200 fruit-bearing seedlings of various species were planted.
The programme was attended by Kanankhu village chief H.B. Hebarson Anal, DFO/Chandel Dr. N. Munal Meitei, teachers and students of Kanankhu L.P. School, forest staff, and residents of the village.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. N. Munal Meitei said that the Sewa Parv is a campaign aimed at inspiring the people of India to work collectively towards making the country a developed nation by 2047. He urged the public to extend cooperation and participate actively in the various initiatives being launched by different departments under the campaign.
As part of the observance, six selected villages of Chandel will carry out tree plantation drives and organise foot rallies to promote environmental protection and wildlife conservation.
Dr. Munal further appealed to the people to ensure the success of similar programmes to be held in other villages, noting that the Kanankhu event had set a positive example.
