Imphal, March 20:
A team from North Eastern Frontier Railway (NFR), led by General Manager Ratankumar Srivastava, recently inspected the ongoing construction of the 110.625 km-long Jiribam–Imphal New Railway Line Project in Manipur.
During the visit, Srivastava assessed key infrastructure works, including tunnels, bridges, tracks, and signalling systems, under the Rs, 14,322 crore railway project. He also held discussions with railway staff along the Jiribam-Khongsang section, which spans 55.36 km and is crucial for enhancing rail connectivity in the state.
Chief Public Relations Officer Kapinjal Kishore Sharma reiterated the railway’s commitment to infrastructure development in Manipur, emphasizing the project’s significance for regional connectivity. Srivastava interacted with safety personnel and reviewed challenges related to track reinforcement, landslides, and security concerns.
The Jiribam–Imphal railway line aims to integrate Manipur with the national railway network. The Khongsang–Noney (18.25 km) and Noney–Imphal (37.02 km) sections are expected to be completed in the coming years.
