An awareness-cum-training programme on the safe usage and handling of LPG gas was held today at Elangkhangpokpi and Langmeidong under Kakching district, with a focus on educating consumers on proper usage practices and precautionary measures to prevent accidents and ensure safety.
The programme was first organised at Elangkhangpokpi Mamang Leikai Library Hall by the Library and Educational Guidance-cum-Cultural Organisation in collaboration with All Gas Care (AGC) Manipur State. The second session was conducted at Langmeidong YDC Club Community Hall under the initiative of Langmeidong Maning Awang Leikai Meira Paibi.
Manager of All Gas Care (AGC) Manipur State, Shagolsem Joyprakash, along with AGC Field Assistant and Sumang Lila artist Happy Rajen, attended the programme.
As part of the initiative, artist Happy Rajen conducted interactive demonstrations, explaining safety measures and precautions to prevent fire hazards arising from LPG usage. Practical sessions on handling gas-related issues were also carried out for participants.
Speaking on the occasion, Shagolsem Joyprakash stated that the training is particularly important, especially for women, as it serves as a crucial awareness initiative to enhance safety. He noted that problems associated with LPG cooking stoves often show early warning signs which are frequently overlooked or ignored, leading to accidents. He added that the primary objective of such programmes is to educate the public on identifying these signs and adopting appropriate preventive measures to avoid mishaps.
Local residents who attended the programme appreciated the efforts of All Gas Care (AGC) Manipur State staff for organising the awareness initiative.
