Basanta Raas, a classical Vaishnavite dance-drama associated with the worship of Lord Krishna and symbolising the beauty of spring and divine love, was performed as part of the annual observance at Shri Govindajee Temple, Shri Bijoy Govinda Temple and Shri Shri Gopinath Jew Naam Mandir.
At Shri Shri Gopinath Jew Naam Mandir, Ningthoukhong the performance was led by Phairembam Kiranbala, while Khwairakpam Khogen and Khwairakpam Ongbi Kunjarani Devi performed as Jagoi Ngakpa.
The dance was choreographed by Rajkumar Nimai. In the presentation, the role of Lord Krishna was portrayed by Mangal Angom, Mathang Chatpi by Moirangthem Daina and Chandrabali by Lamabam Lingjelthoibi. The Chamor bearers included Khundrakpam Ongbi Thambalngangbi, Rajkumar Ongbi Memma Devi, Laishram Leibaklotpi Devi and Rajkumar Ongbi Kunjarani Devi.
A large number of people from different parts of Manipur, along with family members of those portraying various divine roles, attended the event to witness the performance.
Recognised as a rich cultural heritage of Manipur with global appreciation, Basanta Raas continues to be performed with the aim of preserving and promoting the tradition while creating awareness among the younger generation.
