Kishorchand’s wife Ranjita seeks justice for her husband; protest staged, many supports

Wife of Wangkhem Kishorchand who was detained by district administration without spelling out any reason for the detention soon after he was released by the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West continue to seek justice for husband.

A sit-in-protest was staged today on the roadside of MI road at Moirang Ningthou Leirak , Imphal West by Ranjita and her family as well as the locals of Moirang Ningthou Leirak. The protest which began at 10 .30 am today was seen attended by locals, relatives and family of Kishorchand but later many people from various part of the state came and joined the protest showing solidarity to Kishorchand.

Placards denouncing the arbitrary arrest of Wangkhem Kishorchand were displayed during the protest and demanded his immediate release.

Still family member do not know why Kishorchand is detained and under which provision. But source said that Kishorchand might have been detained under National Security Act.

On November 26, CJM Imphal West had ruled that viral video which Kishorchand uploaded does not attract  Section 124-A.

And as for the Section 294 and 500 of the IPC which was charged against him, the CJM said that both the section were bailable and following that he was released on bail.

The re-arrest has been condemn by various sections of people even though the language Kishorchand use in the Video was not appreciated as it content slang words.

“Kishorchand detention is nothing but extreme violation of Human Rights which is only done by authoritarian regime”, a protestor said.

Many rights activists and representative of SSUM also came and showed solidarity to  Kishorchand’s wife Ranjita and family.
