SOREPA pays homage to workers worldwide

Imphal, April 30:

The Socialist Revolutionary Party (SOREPA) extends its homage to workers worldwide, especially those in WESEA. In a statement released on May Day, SOREPA underscored the significance of the occasion, tracing its roots back to 1886 when the movement for an eight-hour workday emerged in Chicago. The statement emphasized that the struggle for sustenance is paramount in life, with self-sufficiency and national liberation being interconnected concerns.
According to SOREPA, “the control of the fruits of labor by the comprador bourgeoisie impedes people’s liberation.” The struggle for national liberation and self-sufficiency necessitates the elimination of the comprador bourgeoisie, who serve as the agents of the big bourgeoisie. Addressing these political and economic concerns is crucial, the statement added, urging solidarity among workers and peasants to combat them.
The statement highlighted the dire situation faced by many indigenous people, including young women, who earn meager amounts while working in the households of the rich. Conversely, many wealthy individuals exploit workers by not paying them adequately. This plight underscores the challenges confronting workers in Manipur.
SOREPA’s statement emphasized that “now everyone knows that it is the Indian state is the one which is intent on undermining and breaking the unity of Manipur.” In response, SOREPA “advocates for a strategy of united opposition against the Indian state.”
