Indo-Myanmar Friendship Gate closed

Imphal, Sept. 1:

District administration of Tamu of Myanmar the adjoining district of Tengnoupal district of India has temporarily close the India-Myanmar Friendship Gate No.1 and Gate 2 till September 30 as a measure to control and manage the spread of COVID-19.
Source said the Myanmar authority has taken up the decision to close the two gate in view of the rise of the COVID-19 cases in India particularly in the state of Manipur. It added that the report about the spread of the dreaded virus at community level in the state has compelled to take up the measures of closing the Indo-Myanmar Friendship gate to control the spread of the virus.
In an official communication from Kyaw Win Oo , District Administration of Tamu, Myanmar to the Deputy Commissioner of Tengnoupal District, Manipur , India it is stated that Indo-Myanmar Friendship Gate (Iron Bridge) , Gate No. 1 and Gate No. 2 will be continuously closed until September 30, 2020 from Myanmar side to control and manage the spread of Coronavirus Disease 2021(COVID-19) . The message has been forwarded following a directive of the Government of Sagaing Region, Myanmar , Security and Border affairs -1.
