Imphal, April 11:

Wahengbam Bikram Meitei, a reporter with Ichel Express and a resident of Kangla Sangomshang Awang Leikai, sustained serious injuries in a road accident on April 10, 2025. The incident took place while he was returning from covering a press conference.
According to reports, the accident occurred when a student suddenly ran across the road, leading to a collision. Bikram Meitei was immediately rushed to JNIMS and admitted to the ORTHO ward. Doctors have confirmed that he sustained critical injuries and underwent surgery.
Wahengbam Bikram Meitei is a registered member (No. 84) of the E Group under the All Manipur Newspaper & Electronic Media Employees Association (AMNEMEA). Showing solidarity with its injured member, AMNEMEA extended financial assistance of Rs. 5,000 to support his treatment and recovery. The aid was handed over on April 11, 2025, at 2:30 PM.
Sagolsem Johnson, another AMNEMEA member and part of the media team at JNIMS, actively assisted during the emergency response and hospitalization process.
Since its formation on May 20, 2018, AMNEMEA has consistently supported its members during times of crisis. The association provided the aid from its welfare contributions, with each member contributing Rs. 20. The leadership has called upon all members to promptly inform the association in case of any distress, so that timely support can be arranged.
