Haomee burns effigy of KNO President P.S. Haokip and ban his book Zalengam : The Kuki Nation

Volunteers of the Federation of Haomee today burnt the effigy of KNO President P.S. Haokip alleging distortion of the history of Manipur in his book “Zalengam : The Kuki Nation, published by KNO Publication & Printed at Saurabh Printers Pvt. Limited India. The book was first published in 1998 and again published for the second time in 2008.

Shouting slogans against the misleading of the Manipuri history by PS Haokip, the irate volunteers of the federation of Haomee burnt the effigy of PS Haokip and the book written by him. The Federation of Haomee also demanded action against the said writer from the Government of Manipur for his heinous act of modifying the history of Manipur.

The Haomee also alleged P. S. Haokip as Myanmar origin saying that his native village is Mongloi in Myanmar. It said that in his book ‘Zalengam: the Kuki Nation , he had divided Manipur/Kangleipak as central Zalengam and & North Zalengam , which is not true . The Haomee also said that at page 131 of his book it has been written that only the valley part is Kangleipal and in 760 AD King of Kangleipal Naotingkhong married 4 daughters of Siloi Longmai, Khuman & Moirang King.

In the chapter 10 of the book it has also been written that Zalengam exited before 33 AD and that  with the help of Kuki Achouba and Kuki Ahongba Pakhangba was made the king of Kangleipak. The successor of Pakhangba who was the son of Khuyoi Tompok Taothingmang (264-364) has also been written as Kuki King at page 132. The book stated that it was after the arrival of Hindu religion that the Kuki and Meitei had been divided at Page no. 133 of the book.

At page no. 134 of the book it has also been written that King Chandrakriti , son of Gambhir Singh was rescued by 1200 warrior of Kuki when the Sukte Chin King abducted him in 1851-52 and later a line of the book wrote Chandrakirti Maharaj announcing Zalengam as a Kuki Nation.

The statement by Federation of Haomee also stated that the uprising to dethrone King Chandrakirti by Chingakham Sanajaoba has also been written as Anglo Kuki Rebellion/ Anglo Kuki War. At Page 21 of the book Imphal Turel has been earlier called Gun (Gundung ) river.

The Federation of Haomee said that until the factual wrong has been corrected the sale of “Zalengam: The Kuki Nation” has been banned with immediate effect, the statement said.
