The Ex-Officio Project Officer, MIDH, Horticulture & Soil Conservation Department, Thoubal, successfully organised a Farmers’ Training Programme on “Improved Horticultural Production Technologies” under the Approved Action Plan of CSS–MIDH, 2025–26 (1st Installment).

The two-day training programme was conducted on 29th and 30th June, 2026 at the Training Hall of the District Office, Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Thoubal, followed by another training programme on 3rd July, 2026 at the Kakching Municipal Council Hall, Kakching.

The programme witnessed an enthusiastic response from the farming community, with around 100-120 farmers participating on each training day. The training aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of farmers by introducing them to improved and scientific horticultural production technologies, thereby promoting sustainable horticulture and increasing farm productivity.

During the technical sessions, experts and resource persons from the College of Agriculture, Central Agricultural University (CAU) and Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Thoubal delivered informative lectures on various aspects of modern horticultural practices. The sessions covered improved cultivation techniques, scientific crop management, integrated nutrient and pest management, post-harvest handling, value addition, and other technologies relevant to the development of the horticulture sector.

The interactive sessions provided farmers with an opportunity to clarify their queries and exchange experiences with the experts. Participants appreciated the practical and need-based information shared during the programme and expressed their willingness to adopt the recommended technologies in their farming activities.

The Ex-Officio Project Officer, MIDH, Horticulture & Soil Conservation Department, Thoubal, reiterated the department’s commitment to strengthening the horticulture sector through continuous capacity-building programmes and dissemination of improved technologies for the benefit of farmers under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH).
