Imphal, July 27:
The Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has vehemently opposed the transfer of any employees from the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM) to other departments pending the conclusion of an investigation by an Enquiry Committee. Despite an edict from the Education Department stipulating that the enquiry should be completed within 20 days, over two months have elapsed with no tangible progress. DESAM has issued an ultimatum that if the enquiry is not concluded and the culprits are not apprehended by July 31, they will publicly expose all individuals involved in the malfeasance.
In a press release, DESAM highlighted their prior disclosure of illegal activities and misconduct by BOSEM officials on May 16. In response, the Education Department, recognizing the gravity of DESAM’s allegations, constituted a three-member Enquiry Committee on May 20, mandating a report to be submitted within 20 days. However, the investigation has languished without any visible outcomes.
DESAM has further condemned the surreptitious attempts by the Education Minister to transfer a BOSEM officer, asserting that such maneuvers should be halted immediately. The DESAM contends that until those responsible are duly prosecuted, no officials from BOSEM should be transferred. The covert attempts to reassign officers are viewed with suspicion, suggesting a possible effort to shield the implicated individuals from accountability.
